The Jaguar XKR
Posted in Jaguar by admin - Oct 16, 2010The Jaguar XKR is part of the Jaguar XK series which was first introduced to the public in 1996, and still continues to be popular. These cars are very similar to the Aston Martin since they all utilize the same format. However, the XKR did make a few changes to improve and differentiate itself from the pack. What is interesting is that the top speed that the XKR
will reach is 155 miles per hour, this is electronically controlled, so there is no way that you can go above this, even though the engine could outperform this number. Most people believe that this was done in order to limit the number of accidents that resulted from the speed of the car, which does help improve the safety ratings of the XKR.
There are many different limited editions of the XKR, which will of course cost more, however, most people view these as more collectible. The XKR Silverstone was only for the UK and Japanese market, which means finding one in the US is not going to be easy. The most notable aspect about this car was that it included a one of king interior with different colors than what people were normally use to seeing in the XKR, making it a surprise. However, it also included all the options on it, which made it a huge turner, as well as luxurious ride to own. There are several other limited editions to choose from, most of them are subject to one specific location, however, this only adds to the prestige of owning one of these rare vehicles, in addition, there may have only been a limited number of these editions made since they are expected to be those cars that are wanted and will be preserved for future generations.
The current XKR includes a huge improvement in the engine. Most professionals are applauding Jaguars decision to replace the old engine with a V8, 5.0 liter engine that also has a supercharger on it. Horsepower wise the car should get around 510. It can go from zero to sixty in 4.6 seconds, which is a slight improvement from the 4.9 seconds that the car use to turn in. The only drawback that most professionals are finding about the car is that there is a slight decrease in fuel mileage, one mile per gallon to be exact. The car will get around 15 miles per gallon in the city, and 22 miles per gallon on the highway.
The interior of the new Jaguar XKR was also improved upon. The most notable is the new silver shifter that rises up from the center console in order to give it a more sportier look. The XKR will also feature the most advanced technology that any car has, with Bluetooth capabilities, a touch screen navigation and so on. All of which add to the appeal of the car, as well as giving off a more smart feel to the car. The car is also available with a convertible, which is a huge plus since the car will appeal to wider demographics than normal.
