Review: 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG
Posted in Mercedes-Benz by admin - Sep 03, 2012The ML63 AMG is the top of the line version of the M-Class SUV of Mercedes-Benz. It features a twin turbo V-8 with 5.5L displacement that can produce 518 bhp or roughly 15bhp more than its older version. Despite the boost in power, the fuel consumption is improved by 40% and averages 23.9 miles per gallon. It sells for £34,505.
Those who want a more exciting version can opt for the AMG Performance package that brings in an additional 32 bhp plus styling options and stronger brakes.
The Mercedes ML63 AMG can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in a matter of 4.8 seconds. The AMG Performance package makes it a tenth of a second faster.
This big car is pretty agile with a very good steering system. It comes standard with Sports Air Suspension and a set of 20-inch alloy rims. The air suspension can be set to a Sport+ mode, Sport mode, or Comfort mode. The Comfort mode will give you a very firm and composed ide while the Sport+ mode will bring the car 1cm closer to the ground and improves stability during high speed driving.
The performance of the V-8 is almost flawless. It delivers the power smoothly and also shifts gear without any hiccups.
Inside the ML63 AMG the designers did a good job with the classy leather seat and touches of metal trim and dark wood. The list of option being offered by the luxury carmaker is quite extensive but it is quite disappointing that a powered tailgate does not came as standard.
The ML63 AMG can comfortably accommodate five adults. The boot does not have a lip making access easier while the underneath the floor is a hidden storage area to add some more practicality.
To conclude, recommending a 4×4 5.5L V8 version of the ML63 AMG is a challenge especially when you can get the entry level model that runs on diesel for almost half the price.
